PCOS Diagnosis
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder that affects people with ovaries, particularly during their reproductive years. There is no single test to definitively diagnose PCOS, and the condition can present differently in different individuals. The diagnosis usually involves:
- Irregular or absent menstrual cycles
- Clinical or biochemical signs of hyperandrogenism (excess male hormones)
- Polycystic ovaries observed on ultrasound.
Common issues? No problem.
Most women who have PCOS suffer from the following:
- Cycle irregularities
- Weight gain
- Anxiety/depression E
- Eating disorders
Insulin resistance and hormonal imbalances can make weight management challenging for those with PCOS. Elevated insulin levels lead to fat storage, while androgen imbalances may cause excess fat to accumulate around the abdomen.
